Denis "Denny" Hulme competed in the Can Am racing series from 1966 thru 1972. In 1967 the McLaren M6A made its racing debut at Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Denny won this race and finished the 1967 Can Am season in second place driving a McLaren M6A with his team owner Bruce McLaren winning the championship. Denny won the Can Am driving championship two times, in 1968 and 1970, while finishing second in four other seasons. In his Can Am racing career Hulme posted a record 22 series victories.
