This locomotive started life in 1968 as PRR #6221 and eventually became a PC and then CR unit with the same road number. The C&NW purchased the locomotive and renumbered it in March, 1983. Eventually repainted in C&NW colors, it remained on the C&NW roster until the C&NW merged with the Union Pacific in 1995, seeing occasional service when traffic levels demanded it. The scheme chosen is the last scheme that the SD45s wore: Zito Yellow with a dashed sill stripe. The handrails and grab irons require installation. All of these detail parts insert into place. No glue required.
The KATO HO SD45 features directional Golden White LED headlights, preprinted numberboards, powerful five pole motor with brass flywheels and an all wheel electrical pickup system.
For use on a DC powered HO scale train track. Can also be converted to run on a DCC HO scale train track using the appropriate 8-pin DCC decoder.
