As always, Shelby made a memorable impression upon spectators with their Daytona Coupe at the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans. Campaigned by Scuderia Filipinetti, the #59 racer was decorated in a distinctive red-and-white color scheme especially for the race. Peter Harper and Peter Sutcliffe drove the Daytona Coupe until hour #10, when a blown engine disqualified them from the race.
