The NRE Genset was introduced in 2006 to reduce emissions and fuel consumption on road-switcher type locomotives. The power comes from 2-3 smaller independent diesels (producing 700 hp each) used as tractive effort is needed. Over 170 have been built to date. The Atlas HO TRAINMAN Line is a completely new category of affordable, scale, prototypical locomotives and rolling stock designed for ease of use with any HO scale layout. Fully assembled and ready-to-run, these quality products were designed and produced using the latest engineering software and steel molds. They are built for model railroaders who expect smooth, reliable operation with consistent performance.
This locomotive features: 5-pole skewed armature motor with dual-flywheels, realistic die-cast frame, separately applied applied grab irons, ditch lights, cab roof details (air conditioners, GPS, antennae), MU cables, AccuMate couplers and DCC ready (includes NMRA 8-pin plug).
For use on a DC powered HO scale train track. Can also be converted to run on a DCC HO scale train track using the appropriate 8-pin DCC decoder.
