In its first year, Carroll Shelby built between 500 and 600 GT350 model Mustangs that received post-factory modifications at Shelby's makeshift Los Angeles plant. However, 36 were set aside to become competition models, the GT350R. Weight-the racer's enemy-was the main target and the 'R' model came in weighing nearly 500 pounds less then its street counterpart through the removal of many items including radio, heater/defroster, insulation, even the hood latch, making those hood pins functional instead of decorative. Most notable was the removal of both factory bumpers, the front being replaced with a fiberglass apron with built-in cooling ducts. Features - fully assembled and ready to race on all 1:32 scale slot car tracks, pre-painted accurate body shell, pre-painted driver figure, tampo printed graphics, inline front motor configuration, neo magnet and presentation box. |
