The MRC Prodigy Express DCC (Digital Command Control) System with it’s reliable and easy to use DCC train controls will enhance the enjoyment of your train layout for many years to come. The MRC Prodigy Express DCC System comes as a complete system with a Command Station (base unit), LCD Cab/Handheld with cable and a power supply.
Now you can have all the advanced DCC features without the complexity. Running is intuitive and programming is easy. The system is so user friendly that the quick start instructions are printed on the back of the handheld. No need to know about hexadecimals, no difference in address programming 2 digits or 4, and you can program while still operating other locos. Prodigy Express is so advanced, it's simple.
The Prodigy Express is Plug & Play with any KATO HO UNITRACK track set along with just about any N and HO scale layout. For KATO UNITRACK users, we do recommend purchasing an additional KATO UNITRACK Feeder Straight Track, which can serve as the program track for programming DCC decoder equipped locomotives. A program track is also required for those DCC decoder equipped locomotives which don't support programming on the main track.
The Prodigy Express can be easily upgrade to ALL the additional features of a Prodigy Advance² (see chart near the bottom of this listing) by purchasing the #1415 MRC Prodigy Advance² Handheld. If you want to be able to control multiple DCC decoder equipped locomotives on the same track with separate handheld controls for two operators, then purchase the #1501 MRC Extension Plate which allows both the Prodigy Express Handheld and a Prodigy Advance² Handheld (sold separately) to be connected to the base unit.
The Prodigy Express is rated at 1.6 amps which is enough power to control up to three DCC decoder equipped HO scale locomotives at the same time. If you need more power, you can upgrade to the #1504 Prodigy Advance Squared power supply (sold separately) which increases the current rating of the Prodigy Express System to 2.5 amps for running up to five DCC decoder equipped HO scale locomotives at the same time.
